Mitchell Bridges has been supplying uninterruptedly for over twenty years temporary bridges for the Southampton International Boat Show, Farnborough International Air Show. And we also supply bridges for many other world renowned events that are held across Britain:
The Southampton International Boat Show was the first event to use our bridges. Twenty-two years ago we came up with a unique temporary bridge design for the event and we’ve been working with them ever since.
Each year we provide four pedestrian bridges to link the different sites of this expanding show. The bridges are placed in pairs over the main roads. It’s estimated that over the ten days of the Boat Show, the bridges carry at least 110,000 people.
We’ve provided this internationally acclaimed event with temporary bridges for pedestrians and vehicles for around twenty years. The pedestrian bridges that we build vary in size from 18 to 24 metres and allow visitors to cross the main roads safely and enter the site. We also provide a temporary vehicle bridge over the Basingstoke Canal to improve access to the show for site traffic.
The bridge we build for Goodwood in July is fully clad and has now become a focal point for the event. The cladding has a very strong visual impact and it features, not only the Goodwood logo, but the sponsors’ logos. The bridge is constructed in the same way every year and has become an iconic part of the festival as people have come to instantly recognise it.
We are delighted that the organisers of the Wimbledon Championships have decided to use Mitchell Bridges for the foreseeable future. A new contract with the Championships means that we will, once again, be supplying the world famous tennis tournament with a temporary pedestrian bridge. The bridge allows visitors to cross safely from the car parks and hospitality suites to the main championship site. The bridge, although temporary, has been built to look like a permanent feature. It’s estimated that over the last 5 years the bridge has been used by over ½ million Wimbledon visitors.
